The York County School Division is pleased to announce two administrative appointments for the 2017-18 school year: Dr. Aaron Butler has been named as the new director of School Administration, beginning July 1. Aaron started his career as a social studies teacher and was previously an assistant principal in the York County School Division at Bruton High School and Yorktown Middle School. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Clemson University and his graduate degrees from the College of William & Mary. He is currently the supervisor of Student Services in Williamsburg-James City County, overseeing student discipline matters and student-related Title IX investigations among other duties. During his tenure, he wrote and supervised a state grant for implementing a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) and was the Virginia Department of Education’s 2016 Trailblazer Award recipient. Additionally, he was invited to present at the 2017 APBS (Association for Positive Behavior Support) International Conference. Mark Kirk will assume the duties of principal at Magruder Elementary School, effective July 1. Mark has 11 years of school-based administrative experience and is currently the principal of Yates Elementary School in Newport News, where he has served the last four years. He was the 2010 Newport News Reading Council Administrator of the Year. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Longwood University and his master’s degree from George Washington University. |
