Amy Hunter, Grafton High School teacherCongratulations to the 2017 York County School Division (YCSD) Employee Recognition Program recipients!

Amy Hunter, a health teacher at Grafton High School, was honored with the Spirit of Education Award. This award recognizes employees who have made a particularly meaningful contribution to the school and/or community that goes well beyond normal duties, expectations and responsibilities. She and Master Deputy Jeff Charville, the school’s SRO, were recognized for their exceptional actions earlier this year when faced with a classroom crisis, took immediate action and worked together to save a student’s life.

The Superintendent’s Award recognizes employees who have made a particularly meaningful contribution to furthering the school division’s mission statement. Chrissy Wagner, coordinator of Language Arts & Social Studies - Grades K-5, brings passion, professionalism and commitment to her job each and every day. She supports students and staff by researching and locating materials to personally delivering high quality professional development that has already made a tremendous impact in our classrooms.

The Para-Educator of the Year Award recognizes employees who exhibit exemplary professional skills in supporting student achievement as an active and contributing member of the instructional team. Katharine Fulop from Seaford Elementary School was honored with the award for her cooperative spirit, persevering work ethic and creative problem-solving skills.

The Support Staff Member of the Year Award recognizes employees who exhibit exemplary professional skills in support of the division’s goal to maintain efficient, effective, service-oriented operations that support student achievement in safe, secure environments. Linda Sulik, daytime custodian from Yorktown Middle School, was recognized not only as a vital member of the school team, but as someone who always takes care of others first.
