Honoring Service Members

Honoring Service MembersStudents and staff throughout the York County School Division have spent the month of April honoring our Armed Forces in recognition of the Month of the Military Child, celebrated every April. Students and staff divisionwide joined in the “Purple Up” campaign and wore purple on April 21. Waller Mill Elementary School also started the day by having a student play “The Star-Spangled Banner” for the morning announcements. Students at Bethel Manor Elementary School dressed up like their parents by wearing military gear. Yorktown Elementary School hosted a parade to honor military students and their families. Active duty and veteran parents joined their children in a parade through the halls of the school on Thursday, April 27. Students and staff members cheered to show appreciation for the service and sacrifice of military-connected families. More than 300 students and their families were recognized during the parade.
