Tabb Middle School Engineering Showcase

Tabb Middle School (TMS) students enrolled in Terry Guthrie's Ready, Set, Go class participated in an engineering showcase last week. Over the course of six blocks, student teams acted as computer and environmental engineers who were charged to design and build a robotic device with moving parts, lights, and or sensors for the purpose of improving water quality.

Teams had to describe a specific target problem with the Bay then explain how their device represented a solution. They used the last State of the Bay Report to understand the real issues in need of improvement. Guests were invited to the showcase to represent concerned citizens of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. They reviewed and evaluated prototype solutions and provided feedback on a rubric.
