Model Water Tower CompetitionThree Queens Lake Middle School (QLMS) students recently entered a model water tower competition at Old Dominion University sponsored by the American Water Works Association. The challenge was to build a water tower within certain design parameters and they were graded in the following categories: structural integrity, cost efficiency, and design ingenuity. The QLMS sixth grade students, Julia Shrieves, Dakota Anderson and Kathleen Richardson, took third place out of 16 teams. The third place prize was a $100 check for their school, which the students were excited to present to Principal Scott Meadows.
