New BMES Principal Appointed

The York County School Division is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. David Reitz as the next principal of Bethel Manor Elementary School. The School Board approved the appointment after an extensive search process that included focus groups comprised of faculty, staff and parents, stakeholder surveys, and three rounds of interviews.

Dr. Reitz is currently the principal of Booker T. Washington Elementary School in Suffolk, where he has served the last three years. He is also a past Teacher of the Year for Virginia Beach and Portsmouth school divisions; as well as the Assistant Principal of the Year for Virginia Beach City Public Schools, where he served two schools with a high military family presence.

Dr. Reitz shared his that he is excited about this opportunity and looks forward to joining the division. “It has always been my dream to work for a school system with such an excellent reputation. My experiences have afforded me many opportunities to grow professionally, and being selected as principal of Bethel Manor Elementary School will help me continue with this growth. I am eager to meet and work the staff, students, parents and community of Bethel Manor Elementary School.”
