Posted On: Friday, May 13, 2016

Congratulations to the 2016 York County School Division (YCSD) Employee Recognition Program recipients!

The Superintendent’s Award recognizes employees who have made a particularly meaningful contribution to furthering the school division’s mission statement. Savina Booth, a Grafton High School special education para-educator, brings passion, creativity and commitment to her job each and every day. In addition to providing the traditional one-on-one support for students in her classroom, she researches, plans and creates solutions for these students to achieve what some may deem impossible.

Greg Dolak, associate director of Maintenance and Facilities Support, was honored with the Spirit of Education Award. This award recognizes employees who have made a particularly meaningful contribution to the school and/or community that goes well beyond normal duties, expectations and responsibilities. Greg is someone people can turn to for help in virtually any situation, knowing that no matter how obscure or how difficult, he will turn over every stone to find a solution.

The Support Staff Member of the Year Award recognizes employees who exhibit exemplary professional skills in support of the division’s goal to maintain efficient, effective, service-oriented operations that support student achievement in safe, secure environments. Donna Frazier, school nurse from Dare Elementary School, was recognized not only as a vital member of the school team, but as someone who demonstrates extra care and support for students.

The Para-Educator of the Year Award recognizes employees who exhibit exemplary professional skills in supporting student achievement as an active and contributing member of the instructional team. Shiryl Everhart from Tabb Middle School was honored with the award for being a true asset to the learning environment. She is both proactive and intuitive while dealing with the unique challenges faced by the students in the behavior support classroom.
