Posted On: Friday, April 22, 2016

The York County School Division is proud to announce that Elizabeth O’Brien, a Yorktown Middle School math teacher, has been selected as the division’s Teacher of the Year. Elizabeth was one of three finalists for the honor and was surprised with the news at a special faculty meeting by the Teacher of the Year prize patrol.

The Teacher of the Year prize patrol, sponsored by TowneBank, included Superintendent Victor Shandor, School Board members Mark Medford and Cindy Kirschke, Chief Academic Officer Stephanie Guy, Chief Finance Officer Dennis Jarrett, Chief Human Resources Officer Jim Carroll, York Foundation for Public Education Liaison Belinda Willis, and Education Foundation board member and Vice President of TowneBank Sandra Allen.

As the division Teacher of the Year, Elizabeth is now a candidate for the regional Teacher of the Year. One of the eight regional honorees will be named the state Teacher of the Year in the fall.
