MVES KidWind Regional Competition

Posted On: Friday, March 18, 2016

Mt. Vernon Elementary School (MVES) students recently participated in the Regional KidWind Challenge in Virginia Beach. The girls’ team placed second overall in addition to winning The Judges' Award and a Teamwork Award. They have been invited to participate in the National KidWind Challenge being held in New Orleans in May.

The KidWind Challenge is the ultimate wind energy learning experience for students. Students around the country are able to explore wind energy through the hands-on, investigative, and exciting challenges. The goal of the KidWind Challenge is to help students discover the promise and limitations of wind energy technology, design, build, and test a functional creative wind turbine, and compete with their peers in a supportive environment.
