A York High School (YHS) teacher is being considered as a finalist for a Kennedy Center/Stephen Sondheim Inspirational Teacher Award. Amy Insley, theater teacher at YHS, was nominated by her former student Meaghan Witten. The award, to be announced on March 22, 2016, recognizes teachers who had significant impact on an individual student. The teachers selected will receive a certificate, a check for $10,000, and their photo will be posted on the Kennedy Center/Stephen Sondheim Inspirational Teacher website along with their nominator's photo and a story about the impact the teacher had on the nominator's life.

Insley was also nominated for the Excellence in Theatre Education Award by The Tony Awards and Carnegie Mellon University earlier this school year. The award finalists will be announced this spring.
