NFL Wide Receiver Motivates YHS Students

Posted On: Friday, February 19, 2016

Ben Edwards, a wide receiver for the New York Giants, spoke to an assembly of student athletes at York High School (YHS) recently. A 2010 YHS graduate, he encouraged the students to set priorities to help them reach future success and to focus on more than athletics. “People aren’t going to remember what I accomplished (athletically). People are going to remember my character,” he told them.

Edwards has continued to support the York Falcons since his graduation, serving as an assistant football coach this fall while recovering from a hamstring injury. During the student assembly, he announced that he was donating four iPads, which the students will be able to win for demonstrating various character attributes, such as sportsmanship and commitment.
