YCSD Finance Awards

The York County School Division finance team was recognized at the December School Board meeting for earning multiple budgeting and financial reporting awards.

The Fiscal Year 2016 Budget was awarded the Meritorious Budget Award from the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) and the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). In addition, the Fiscal Year 2014 Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) was awarded the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting Award from ASBO and the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Award from GFOA.

These are the highest forms of recognition awarded in the field of governmental/school district budgeting and financial reporting. YCSD has earned the annual budget award for 18 consecutive years and the CAFR award for 17 consecutive years. In addition, YCSD is one of only eight school divisions in Virginia that received all 4 awards. The other school divisions are Fairfax County, City of Alexandria, Loudoun, Newport News, Prince William, Roanoke County and Virginia Beach.
