Students studying French I at Yorktown Middle School celebrated the French tradition of La Chandeleur by learning to make crêpes. Similar to the tradition of Groundhog Day, where an animal prognosticates the weather, La Chandeleur uses crêpes as an indicator of what is to come in the crêpe-maker's future. Students in Isabel Galvez's class cooked their own crêpes and learned the language and culture associated with this holiday.
