A Poet at the White House

Posted On: Friday, May 01, 2015
Tabb High School junior Brock Johnson was selected to participate in a workshop for aspiring poets, held on Friday, April 24, at the White House in Washington D.C. Brock was nominated because of his "rap lyric" writing and performing talents. Upon completion of the interview process, he was selected to attend the workshop held as a part of a celebration of Poetry Month at the White House. Students attending the workshop demonstrated a variety of poetry genres including beat and rap, as well as more traditional styles. They were challenged with spontaneous writing which stretched their poetic boundaries.
