YRA Students Create Non-Profit Website

Students at York River Academy (YRA) developed and launched a website for Step Up – York to assist community members and promote awareness and education about upcoming local election processes.

Students created sample banners, navigation bars, layouts, and site pages. Sophomores and a few juniors and seniors met with the Step Up – York organization representatives to gain insight into the preferences for their web presence. Meetings were set up for students, with the help of YRA faculty, to attend Step Up – York presentations with local organizations like the Rotary Club. Here, students could capture video of discussions about the topic of the website. YRA students are also creating videos explaining the roles of many of the local positions up for election. These will be included in future updates as the site evolves and more information is available throughout this year-long venture.
