SES New Addition Opens

Posted On: Thursday, December 04, 2014

Students and staff at Seaford Elementary School (SES) are enjoying the six new classrooms that have been added to the building as part of the division’s Capital Improvements Program. York County School Board Chair Mark Medford, Division Superintendent Victor Shandor, Ed.D., York County Board of Supervisor Chair Don Wiggins and Principal Christina Head were joined by student representatives for the official ribbon-cutting.

The new addition houses fourth grade classrooms along with classrooms for reading and speech. It also created room in the building for the art and music classrooms to be relocated into the main building from mobile units on campus. An enclosed breezeway from the classrooms to the gymnasium, which improves student safety, was also added to the building during the renovation.

“We are thankful to our School Board and the Board of Supervisors,” stated Dr. Shandor. “Their dedication and commitment to our schools and our students is tremendous. I’m so glad Mr. Medford and Mr. Wiggins were able to participate today with our students and staff. I’d also like to thank our staff for their efforts to see this project completed, specifically Dr. Carl James and Mark Tschirhart.
