YCSD School Board Member Honored

Barbara Haywood, York County School Board member representing District 1, was honored at the Virginia School Boards Association (VSBA) Annual Convention this week. Mrs. Haywood, along with a School Board member from Giles County, was presented with the VSBA Quarter Century Award in recognition of 25 years of service on the school board.

“It is an honor to present Mrs. Haywood and Mr. Whitehead with the VSBA Quarter Century Award,” said Gina Patterson, executive director of the VSBA, “Their dedication to the youth in their communities and the Commonwealth of Virginia is admirable.”

The Virginia School Boards Association, a voluntary, nonpartisan organization of Virginia school boards, promotes excellence in public education through advocacy, training, and services. The Association offers conferences, information, training, and counseling designed to meet the needs of the Commonwealth’s educational leaders.
