Friends Feeding Friends

Posted On: Monday, October 20, 2014

Students at Dare Elementary School are learning how they can make a difference for those who are hungry in their local community. Food drive managers from the Virginia Peninsula Foodbank visited first through third grade classes and discussed how people can partner together to help hunger.

Students learned that the faces of hunger can be children, neighbors, friends, and co-workers. They are having a food drive in the classrooms throughout the next month. Teachers, parents and students will be delivering the donations to the Foodbank together.

The students will also work collaboratively to write letters, graph collection data and analyze those graphs. They will be using technology to create Tellagami and PowerPoint presentations to inform others about the food drive and local hunger.
