Monarch Butterfly Sanctuary

Posted On: Friday, October 10, 2014
Monarch butterflies have been taking flight at elementary schools across the York County School Division in recent weeks. Students have had the chance to witness the life cycle of the monarch butterfly. A few weeks ago they were given a butterfly cage that contained milkweed, eggs, caterpillars, and chrysalis. Students made monarch observations, tagged the adult butterflies, and then released them into the wild so they may prepare for the monarch migration. What an amazing experience to watch the butterflies emerge!
