New Way to Fuel Up in the Morning at YHS

Posted On: Friday, September 26, 2014

Sodexo, the YCSD food services contractor, knows that a nutritious breakfast and academics go hand-in-hand. Recognizing that students may be running short on time before the first bell, Sodexo is ramping up breakfast nutrition by introducing the Fast Takes breakfast cart program at York High School (YHS).

With the support of Dr. Crump, YHS principal, Sodexo launched the mobile program at the beginning of the school year. In just a few short weeks, breakfast participation tripled! Students can grab a freshly baked breakfast sandwich, fruit parfait or fresh fruit cup while catching up with their friends just before the bell rings. Fast Takes also offers breakfast bars, whole fruit, juice, and milk. Sodexo continues to offer their full breakfast menu in the cafeteria each morning, but the Fast Takes cart allows on-the-go students to eat a nutritious breakfast too.

The cart is open each morning from 7‑7:20 a.m. Sodexo's goal is to roll out the carts to each school in the division.
