YCSD ENERGY STAR Awards

Posted On: Wednesday, September 24, 2014

The York County School Division (YCSD) takes energy conservation very seriously. Since record-keeping began in 2004, the division has saved more than $3.7 million in energy costs. During this week’s monthly meeting, the School Board recognized principals of this year’s ENERGY STAR Awards. An ENERGY STAR qualified building meets very strict energy, lighting and indoor air quality standards set by EPA. These buildings use less energy, are less expensive to operate, and generate fewer greenhouse gas emissions than their counterparts.

The following 14 buildings earned the designation this year:

  • Seaford Elementary, Queens Lake Middle, Bruton High (7th consecutive year)
  • Mt. Vernon Elementary, Grafton School Complex (6th consecutive year)
  • Tabb Middle (6th year)
  • Yorktown Middle, York High (5th consecutive year)
  • Yorktown Elementary, Coventry Elementary, EXTEND Center (4th consecutive year)
  • Magruder Elementary (2nd consecutive year)
  • Dare Elementary, Tabb Elementary (1st award)
