State Odyssey of the Mind Champions

The Queens Lake Middle School (QLMS) Odyssey of the Mind claimed First Place at the state tournament in Rocky Mount last weekend. The team competed in the Not So Haunted House category, which had to include special effects, a narrator and a surprise ending. Not surprising was the fact that the QLMS team earned perfect scores from the judges in two categories!

The students are coached by Assessment & Compliance Coordinator Keith Wright and math teacher Carrie Provensen. “This team truly thrived under pressure,” said Keith Wright. “They’re some of the most dynamic students we’ve ever had the pleasure of coaching.”

As state champions, the QLMS team advances to the World Finals, which take place at Iowa State University in May.
