Posted On: Friday, April 18, 2014

The York County School Division (YCSD) is pleased to announce Mr. Doug Roper as the 2015 Teacher of the Year. Dr. Eric Williams, Division Superintendent, led a “prize patrol” to surprise the Tabb High School history teacher, the YCSD High School Teacher of the Year, in his classroom on school spirit day. A graduate of Elon College, Mr. Roper has spent 36 years educating students in York County. In addition to his teaching duties, he has also coached multiple athletic teams throughout his career.

“Doug’s commitment to his students, his school, and our community serves as an inspiration to his fellow educators,” stated Dr. Williams. “From the school-level to the division-level, each of our Teacher of the Year recipients demonstrate a commitment to education that is clearly recognized by all who have had a chance to be in their classrooms.”

YCSD is also pleased to recognize Denise Trainor as the Elementary School Level Teacher of the Year and Laura Shaske as the Middle School Level Teacher of the Year. We also congratulate the school-level Teachers of the Year.
