Posted On: Friday, March 28, 2014

Suparnamaaya Prasad, an eighth grade student at Yorktown Middle School (YMS), is headed to the state level of the National Geographic Bee. As the winner of the school-level competition earlier this school year, Prasad took a written test to qualify for the state Bee to be held April 4, 2014.

The National Geographic Society will provide an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., for state champions and teacher-escorts to participate in the national competition in May. The first-place national winner will receive a $25,000 college scholarship, a lifetime membership in the Society, and a trip to the Galapagos Islands courtesy of Lindblad Expeditions and the National Geographic Society.
