Posted On: Friday, December 13, 2013

Grafton High School’s Phineas and Ferns team was selected as one of the finalists in this year’s Lexus Eco Challenge. The team was one of only 16 winners in the “Air and Climate” challenge and was the only winning team from Virginia. The Lexus Eco Challenge is a nationwide educational program and contest that inspires and empowers young people to learn about the environment and take action to improve it. Lexus will award a total of $500,000 in grants and scholarships throughout this year’s program.

Steven Meade, team sponsor and AP Environmental Science teacher at Grafton High School (GHS), won a $1,000 grant to buy lab equipment. The school will receive $2,000, and each team member won $1,400 in scholarship money. The team is eligible to enter the finals with other finalists for a chance at one $30,000 prize and several $15,000 prizes. Thanks for being such great representative of YCSD and York County!
