The fourth graders at Tabb Elementary School added a culminating activity to their study of Jamestown and the Powhatan Indians. Each student was asked to bring one, two or three "unwanted, but still useful" items from home that they already owned and were not purchased specifically for this activity. Students were able to trade those items with other students on Barter Day. Students could make an equal exchange or an uneven exchange (two or three items for one more desirable item). Students used the time to trade for items that they desired, and many used it as a time to "shop" for siblings' Holiday presents.
