Posted On: Friday, October 11, 2013

Ms. Courtney Taylor of Tabb High School (THS) was elected Governor of the 67th Session of the Virginia Girls State at the week-long summer program held at Longwood University in Farmville.

Virginia Girls State is sponsored by the American Legion Auxiliary with the support of legislative staff from the General Assembly. Approximately 600 women who are rising high school seniors from across Virginia attended the session. The group is divided into fourteen cities and two political parties, the Federalists and the Nationalists. Party conventions were held to nominate candidates for statewide offices. Candidates delivered platform speeches, responded during a question and answer session, and campaigned prior to voting.
