D.A.R.E Training Program

Posted On: Friday, September 27, 2013

The York County School Division (YCSD) partners with the York County Sheriff’s Office to provide the D.A.R.E (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program to all fourth grade students. This year, several YCSD elementary schools also hosted a school visitation training session for D.A.R.E. officers from around the state.

The D.A.R.E program is a cooperative partnership between law enforcement and the school division to educate students on personal safety with the core goal of helping students to make good choices. D.A.R.E officers participating in the training program help develop lessons that are age appropriate. During the visitations to YCSD elementary schools, officers gave brief D.A.R.E lessons for students in grades K-3. These lessons focus on teaching students good communication skills and how to resist risky behavior.
