The Dominion Foundation recently awarded the York County School Division with a $4,000 grant to support the creation of a field classroom and walking trail for students of all ages. The project is currently under development and will be located behind Waller Mill Elementary School. The focus of the project is to provide the students with a better understanding of nature, their responsibilities and relationship to the natural environment of Eastern Virginia and promote a healthy active lifestyle. The grant proposal was submitted by Roger Searles, a Waller Mill Elementary School teacher.

The Dominion Foundation, the philanthropic arm of Dominion Resources, is dedicated to improving the physical, social and economic well-being of the communities served by Dominion companies. Dominion and the Foundation annually award more than $20 million to causes that protect the environment, promote education and help meet basic human needs.
