The girls will remember the day and they were great ambassadors for TMS and York County. The team was invited back to help again next year. |

Vernon Elementary School (MVES). The team provided instruction on stick and ball handling skills and children had the opportunity to practice what they learned. |
Tabb High Cheerleaders "Stuff the Bus"Posted on: Friday, December 06, 2013On Monday, December 2, members of the JV and Varsity Winter Season Cheerleading teams of Tabb High School (THS) visited Shaggy and Z104 at Peninsula Town Center in Hampton to donate over 35 items to Toys for Tots and the "Stuff the Bus" campaign. These toys will be distributed on Christmas morning to local children this year. The girls were able to spread their cheer over the radio waves with a 2-minute spot. They also sang the school fight song with Santa himself, as he was a 1979 THS graduate (Floyd Britt). |

YRA Key Club Raises FundsPosted on: Friday, December 06, 2013The York River Academy (YRA) Key Club, with 13 members, collected nearly $350 to support Trick or Treat for UNICEF this year. The primary focus for the fund raiser was to support vaccinations against tetanus for mothers and infants. |

YCSD Recognized for Green EffortsPosted on: Friday, November 22, 2013The Virginia School Boards Association has recognized the York County School Division as a Certified Green School Division. The annual challenge encourages implementation of specific environmental policies and practical actions that reduce the carbon emissions generated by both the local school division and the broader community. This is the fifth year the awards were given out. |
Seaford Elementary WalkathonPosted on: Friday, November 22, 2013Seaford Elementary School (SES) students raised $25,275 in Seaford's 4th Annual PTA Walk-A-Thon. The student who raised the most money from each grade had pizza lunch with Mrs. Trench and Mrs. Head. As part of their reward, they also had the chance to turn their principal into a mummy. Of course, they made sure to stick with their school spirit! In addition, the top three students earned special prizes. |
Grafton Middle School Transforms PEPosted on: Friday, November 22, 2013Grafton Middle School (GMS) is using iPads in Physical Education classes to transform the way we teach. The students used iPads to film their fitness stations during High Intensity Interval Training to check form and movement technique. PE is a great subject area to use iPads effectively to support learning. The videos show students’ performance and assessment (self and peer). It provides instant feedback to the students and makes them more aware of effort, body language, and body position. |
