Service Dog Visits Grafton Bethel Elementary

Mr. and Mrs. Weiss explain the work of Devoted, their service dog, to second and third grade reading students in Betty Dean's reading class at Grafton Bethel Elementary School (GBES). Betty Dean's students had finished reading the book Helping Paws, Dogs That Serve.


SCA Officers "Show Off" the Learning Barn

Students at Grafton Bethel Elementary School (GBES) were presented with a learning barn on Tuesday, November 1. Members of the local Farm Bureau and a representative from Agriculture in the Classroom were on hand to make the presentation. The unique bookcase, in the shape of a barn, is filled with agriculture and farm themed related books. The learning barn will be housed in the media center for all students to enjoy.


8th Annual Red Cross Blood Drive at Coventry Elementary

Coventry Elementary School (CES) hosted their annual Red Cross Blood Drive on Friday, October 21st. This was the 8th annual blood drive for CES. Kim Voska, a third grade teacher, donated blood during the event.

York County Firefighters visited Grafton Bethel Elementary School (GBES) during Fire Prevention Week. Students toured the emergency vehicles and talked about fire safety procedures.


Grafton Middle Field Hockey Team Visits JMU

On October 23, 2011 the Grafton Middle School (GMS) Field Hockey team had the opportunity to attend the James Madison University (JMU) vs. College of William and Mary (W&M) field hockey game in Williamsburg, VA. The team had the opportunity to watch a collegiate level field hockey game, receive autographs and meet the JMU team afterwards. Coach Sarah Young, an alumna of James Madison University, was grateful for this opportunity to share with her team.


We Honor and Remember 9/11

Mt. Vernon Elementary School (MVES) created bulletin boards in honor of 9/11. Third grade students created a hall of heroes and second graders made Faces of Caring.


The Winning Season of One Acts

This year's One Act plays were just one more example of the creativity coupled with dedication of the members of the cast and crew that flourishes at Tabb High School (THS). "The Winning Season", directed by Caitlin Cloherty was selected to represent THS this year at District Competition. Rainah Yedlock, English teacher at Tabb sponsors the group.

Seaford First Graders Investigate Pumpkins

On October 31st, Seaford Elementary School’s (SES) first graders participated in pumpkin investigations. Students made predictions about small, medium and large pumpkins. They discussed the pumpkin's size, shape, height, weight and seed count. Students worked in groups to carry out their investigations.
