Tabb High DECA Scores at State ConferencePosted on: Thursday, March 15, 2012Virginia DECA hosted its annual State Leadership Conference March 9-11 in Norfolk Virginia. Over 2,500 students from around the state attended the conference to compete, attend leadership workshops, network and run for state office. Tabb High School (THS) DECA Chapter received the Blue Chip Award, the highest possible, for their aggressive program of work. As chapter Historian, Maryam was instrumental in the completion of the winning document. The Tabb High DECA Chapter was awarded Superstar status for their membership campaign, received recognition for their participation in the Give Jeans and Jackets a Chance Campaign, as well as for their participation in the DECA Week Promotional Campaign. Yorktown Middle BOB Team Wins County BattlePosted on: Thursday, March 15, 2012After reading and studying 15 books, the Yorktown Middle School (YMS) Battle of the Books (BOB) team competed against the Tabb Middle and Grafton Middle school teams in the county competition at the Tabb Library on March 7th. The YMS BOB team won first place! Walter Buck, Erik Neser, Ben Clarke and Mason Stoecker will advance to represent York County at the next level of competition in Williamsburg next Saturday. YCSD Wins Big at the Tidewater Science and Engineering FairPosted on: Thursday, March 15, 2012On Saturday, March 10, the 61st annual regional Tidewater Science and Engineering Fair was held at Old Dominion University’s Webb Center in Norfolk, VA, where over 250 projects competed under the direction of 180 judges from the local professional community. An estimated $6000 in prize money was awarded and over 50 students were nominated to compete in future events. Over 50 projects were entered by York County School Division (YCSD) students. Of those, 27 YCSD students won awards; ten in the junior division and seventeen in the senior division. Of those 27 winners, two YCSD students captured the First and Second place grand prizes. Congratulations to Grafton High Blue Crab Bowl TeamPosted on: Thursday, March 15, 2012The 15th Annual Blue Crab Bowl was held March 2-3, 2012, at Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Designed to inspire and challenge high school students, the Blue Crab Bowl tests competitors' knowledge of the marine sciences.
