Students in Mrs. Mohrhusen's second grade class aged significantly during the first 100 days of school. They enjoyed dressing as 100 year old "students" to help celebrate the 100th day.

NASA Visits GBES Kindergarten

Director of Research, NASA Langley Research Center and Grafton Bethel parent Jill Marlowe visited Cathy Anderson's kindergarten class at Grafton Bethel. "National Engineers Week" is held each February. As part of this national effort, NASA asks its employees to serve for a "Day of Education" by visiting K-12 kids.


GBES Fifth Graders Skype

After reading The Cay, fifth graders at Grafton Bethel (GBES) skyped with Jeremy Wheeler, WAVY-TV10's weatherman. He provided information on hurricanes related to their reading of The Cay. He also answered students' questions about local weather and types of storms. Jeremy gave a shoutout to GBES on Friday, February 22, 2013 during his local weather report!


Grafton Middle School Students Exploring the Revolutionary War Through Technology

Mrs. Bull’s 6th grade classes at Grafton Middle School researched the Revolutionary War using BYOT then created posters based on their findings. Students are pictured here in front of a timeline exhibiting their work. QR codes on the posters linked to videos of students presenting.


Going Green at Grafton Bethel Elementary

Students in Mrs. Kimes’s class at Grafton Bethel Elementary School researched areas of the school that needed a recycling bin. They placed their hand-decorated "green" recycling box in the office and collected recycled items. A student suggested they graph the items to determine the most used location. Then they moved the box to the cafeteria, collected items and graphed. Their final location was the Teacher's Lounge which became the final resting place for the recycling box as that location (according to their graphs) produced the most amount of recycled items.

Seaford Elementary fourth grade student, Nick Rumble, works with first grade students during their calendar time. He reviewed with students the days of the week and worked with students on telling time.

Volunteer Readers at Seaford Elementary

Candi Skinner, Director of Elementary Instruction, volunteered to read at Seaford Elementary during Read Across America Month. She read The Giving Tree to Mrs. Mohrhusen's second grade class. The school welcomes volunteers from the community to come and read.


Seaford Skypes with SeaWorld

Seaford Elementary first graders celebrated penguin week. Students studied animals and their adaptions for their environment. They enjoyed a unique experience of a Skype session with SeaWorld of San Antonio, Texas. Since the students do not get the opportunity to observe penguins, they took advantage of observing them at SeaWorld. Leo Reyes of SeaWorld San Antonio spoke with the children and explained the penguin activity, as well as their body covering and other adaptations.
