First grade students at Seaford Elementary School participated in a transformative learning project about famous Americans. As part of their unit of study, first graders concentrate on five famous Americans: Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, George Washington Carver and Eleanor Roosevelt. The different first grade classes each studied and become an expert on their one assigned famous American. Students were given a choice on how they planned to present their famous American to the other classes in order to share the essential knowledge. Some classes assembled a power point, while others performed plays, songs and even a puppet show. Props, which focused on symbols relative to their American, were assembled in the classroom.
