All York County School Division schools and offices will open at their normal times on Monday, September 17. Monday will be a B day for secondary schools. Information about events and activities postponed due to school closings this week will be shared once the buildings have reopened.

We want to thank our entire community for their support and understanding throughout this week as we worked with county and state officials to ensure the safety of our students, staff and community. We look forward to resuming the school year and welcoming everyone back on Monday.

Tuesday, September 11

County officials have shared the following information in regards to Hurricane Florence:

While authorities recommend that individuals evacuating should try find shelter with friends/family outside the evacuation zone, evacuees may report to the shelter opening Wed., Sept. 12 at 2pm at Tabb High School, 4431 Big Bethel Road.

Parking is available for boats, trailers, motor homes, etc. at the McReynolds Sports Complex, Chisman Creek Park, and Kiln Creek Park. School parking lots have not been designated as parking locations.

York County Parks & Recreation activities are canceled, as are Friday's concert and Saturday's Market Days.

The piers at Riverwalk Landing will close Wednesday and remain closed until further notice. Additional information available at

Monday, September 10
6:30 p.m.

Governor Northam has issued a mandatory evacuation of Zone A starting at 8 a.m. tomorrow morning. Due to the number of student and staff families impacted by this announcement, all division schools and offices will be closed tomorrow to allow families the opportunity to finalize their storm preparations.

Additionally, all schools and offices will remain closed until further notice.

The York County School Division is closely monitoring Hurricane Florence and its potential impact to our area. We are consulting with local and state officials and will communicate any necessary school-related information when it becomes available.

Division staff are mindful that any change in a school schedule creates changes in schedules for all of our families and many of our stakeholders. We are committed to providing as much notice as possible.

Any decisions concerning our schools will be communicated to you via multiple communications platforms, including email, text alert, call out, social media and the YCSD website.
