Ecology Club
The Ecology Club is for students who want to make a difference in the environment. The Ecology Club is responsible for the collection of recycling items throughout the school. Club members also beautify the school grounds by planting flowers and trees.
First Priority Club
First Priority Club is a student-led organization that challenges students on real issues about real life. First Priority is about uniting students with other students on campus and in their community to make a positive difference. www.firstpriority.org
Foreign Language Club
The Foreign Language Club will expose the students to multicultural experiences in the areas of literature, dance, drama and culinary arts. The program is open to all YMS students.
International Cooking Club

The International Cooking Club is opne to students interested in cooking, sharing recipes and producing a school cookbook.
Intramurals

Intramurals is a bi-weekly after-school sports, fitness, and lifetime leisure activity program open to all students within the school, grades 6-8. Emphasis is on providing students with opportunities to strengthen skills learned in the regular physical education program, explore new activities and interests, and develop wholesome socialization skills on a non-competitive, but yet challenging basis, regardless of skill or ability level.
Literary Magazine
The Literary Magazine, published in June of each school year, is a presentation of student expression collected throughout the school year. Student submissions of art, poetry, essays and narratives are included in the Magazine.
Newspaper (Falcon Fusion) Staff
The students on the newspaper staff interview clubs, organizations and other students to learn about different happenings in the school. After the interview they write the articles, take pictures, assemble and distribute the newspaper.
Odyssey of the Mind
Odyssey of the Mind consists of a seven member team who works together to creatively solve a problem. The team’s solution is presented in an eight-minute skit before a panel of judges. The team consists of 7th and 8th graders students. The team meets regularly until the Regional Competition usually held in March.
Readers' Theatre Club
The Readers’ Theatre Club promotes reading and give students opportunities to read after school. Members will select and read aloud parts from a variety of scripts. They will work at reading smoothly and using their voices for "drama". After a group has rehearsed their parts, they will be filmed. Students will then access the computers and use MovieMaker® software to create a movie of their performance. There will be no costumes, sets or public performances. All grade levels are welcome to join.
SCA/Student Leadership
The Student Cooperative Association is composed of the entire student body. Officers and homeroom representatives meet to discuss student ideas and concerns. Election of officers and homeroom representatives are held in September for interested students. Responsible students help encourage service to our community and those who have family members in other countries serving our country. Student Leadership objective is to encourage and teach students to be leaders in school and in their communities.
Technology Student Association
The Technology Student Association fosters personal growth, leadership and opportunities in technology, innovation design and engineering.
Vocal Jazz Ensemble
The Vocal Jazz Ensemble is an auditioned group of 12-16 singers performing music in the jazz style. Only students enrolled in 7th and 8th grade full-year chorus are eligible to audition.
Yearbook
The Yearbook staff is for responsible and dedicated students who will work hard to make the yearbook the best it can be. The staff meets every week until February when the last deadline is met. Staff members learn to do layouts, take pictures and also market the yearbook.


The Art Club is open to students regardless of artistic background. Members gather to explore the lives of artists and to experiment with various creative media. Whether you have a serious talent or you are simply interested in creative expression and an opportunity to get to know others with similar interests, the YMS Art Club is the place for you.
