Hi, my
name is Pam O'Brien and I teach reading to special
education students at York High School using a multisensory reading
program. My love for special education began in High School where
I taught Special Education students to swim and was inspired by
their determination to learn despite their physical
disabilities. Later, I went to earn a Bachelor's degree and
Master's degree in Special Education and taught in
Maryland. After getting married and raising children, we moved to
Williamsburg, Virginia where an
opportunity to be trained in a reading program became available in York
County Public Schools. I was fortunate to receive this valuable
training that has led to many special education students learning to
read. Some of my students have even developed a love for reading
and are selecting books to read for pleasure making this the most
rewarding aspect of my job!
