Books Graphic

Ms. Smith graduated with honors from Virginia Commonwealth University with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Theatre Education which certifies her to teach both English and Drama. A native of Prince George’s County, Maryland, Ms. Smith currently works as the World Literature and Drama teacher at York High School. Ms. Smith is honored to teach World Literature for she immensely enjoyed this subject in high school. Ms. Smith’s mission is to expose World Literature students to the rich and diverse literary works from across the globe.  She also works to increase student confidence about reading and writing through deconstructing and demystifying anxieties about both processes.

Ms. Smith has worked in various arenas as a teacher, playwright, arts administrator, director, choreographer, consultant, and performer.  She has won awards in playwriting from both the N.A.A.CP and Arena Stage in Washington, D.C.  Furthermore, Ms. Smith’s articles and poetry have been published in Worship Arts magazine.

Currently, Ms. Smith is busy working with the Drama Club, directing the fall one act play and the spring musical. Furthermore, she is also working on writing her own musical and getting certified as a holistic health consultant. In her spare time she enjoys being creative, studying holistic health and wellness, dancing, and listening to neo-soul music.
