As Social Studies Department Chair I have enjoyed working with teachers in my department.   These teachers are very talented and knowledgeable.   As a department we always focus on the needs of the students and division requirements for graduation.

I have always enjoyed studying history and visiting museums that bring history to life.  I earned a BA degree in History .  I have been a history teacher in York County for 25 years and before coming to Virginia I taught in South Carolina and Arizona.  It is a pleasure coaching the Scholastic Bowl and Battle of the Brain Teams.  I have also had the opportunity to sponsor CHROME and co-sponsor the African American Heritage Club.   I currently serve on the State VHSL Scholastic Bowl committee where I help make decisions about rules and policy.   Some of the best moments in my teaching career include watching students relate the past to the present.  It is a rewarding experience to watch my students expressions the moment they realize that the more they know about history the greater the chances are that they can make a difference.
