Jeff Ganoe: Special Education Teacher

I am a person who has come to the field of education later in life, and as a special education teacher. I feel it is important to take an opportunity to introduce myself and give some insight into my personal background. I earned my undergraduate degree at Duquesne University, in Pittsburgh, in business. After a career in business, banking and brokerage I had the opportunity to return to school and pursue a lifelong dream. I completed my Masters program at the College of William and Mary, as well as doing additional post graduate work in Special Education and Administration. I am completing my fifteenth year in teaching and still having a ball. In addition to teaching I’m an avid golfer and also the golf coach here at York. Along with bringing my business background into the classroom I also incorporate many of my coaching techniques in an attempt to motivate and support my students in their efforts to become life long learners. Having worked in the world of business I try to bring that insight into the classroom to help better prepare my students for the demands of the real world once they leave high school. When students understand that there is an authentic connection between studying, learning and finding their place in the real world, teachers and students both win.
