PTSA Monthly Message

January 2008

Falcon Families,

It’s hard to believe that 2007 is gone and we are at the start of a new year once more.  The PTSA has had a very busy fall, and is looking forward to many great activities that are planned for winter and spring.

Thank you to all of the many volunteers who have worked together this year to help the students and staff of YHS.  With your help we have provided the teachers and staff with birthday recognitions, monthly treats, a Thanksgiving Brunch, and a Christmas Tea.  We have provided our students with membership prizes drawings for Busch Gardens’ passes, gift cards for prizes during our fundraiser, and Falcon Bags at our first Big Blue Day.

We participated during York High School’s Leadership Conference, which was sponsored by YHS for the peninsula area schools. We also supported the school in their beautification program, of which the first phase was completed in December.  We are also proud to announce that our Reflections program was very successful.  Two of our students placed first and second at the county level, and will continue on to represent YHS at the district level.  We wish them the best of luck.

Our first school wide fundraiser was very successful, thanks to all of the parent support!  We were able to raise $3,500 to support our budget.  So far this year, we have been able to help with the purchase of agendas for all of the students, and help support the school with their beautification program.  We will also offer a scholarship for one of our seniors this spring, please see the guidance department if your child is interested.

Wow!  Together we have accomplished a lot already this year.  We are currently working hard toward planning a fantastic After Prom Party for our seniors.  We still need a lot of help with this, and are inviting any parent who would like to get involved to join us with this exciting event.  Please contact any board member for more information.

It’s not too late to join the PTSA.  We still have many fun activities planned for the remainder of this year and would like to have you be a part of the excitement.  There are many ways to volunteer, whether it is hospitality, after prom, baccalaureate, the car show, beautification, or helping us tally Farm Fresh receipts.  We still need your help and invite you to join us!

I wish you all a Happy New Year and I hope to work with you at the school sometime soon!  Thank you for all of your support this year!
