Second Grade Biographies


Mrs. Minor

Rachel Minor, a native of New Jersey, was born in Manhattan, New York City, New York.  She is a graduate of the College of William & Mary.  She is currently working on her Reading Masters from Old Dominion University.  Her interests include traveling, reading, long walks outside, and spending time with her family.  She has a son, Benjamin, born on November 6, 2006.  Mrs. Minor loves reading children's books, her favorite being The Boxcar Children by Gertrude Chandler and any book written by Roald Dahl.  Her favorite foods are mint chocolate chip ice cream and strawberries.  YUM!


Miss Lassalle

Miss Lassalle, born in New Orleans, is a Louisiana native.  She completed her bachelor’s degree in Elementary/Early Childhood/Special Ed./ and Collaborative Teaching at Samford University, located in beautiful Birmingham, Alabama.  She then went on to receive her master’s degree in Gifted Education from The College of William and Mary.  Miss Lassalle enjoys gardening, reading, painting and drawing, as well as swing dancing in her free time.  Her favorite children’s book authors are John Scieszka, Chris Van Allsburg, and Robert McCloskey.

 


Mrs. Yeldell

Karyn Yeldell is a native of Hampton, VA.  This is her second year at Yorktown Elementary and her fifth year as an elementary school teacher.  She received her undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech.  GO HOKIES!  In the Spring of 2006, she received her Masters in Elementary Education from Old Dominion University.  She is now pursuing her Ed.D along with an Educational Administration License at the College of William and Mary.  She enjoys reading practical nonfiction literature.  Her interests include scrapbooking, traveling, and spending time with her two-year-old son.  Cheesecake and strawberries are ranked among her favorite foods.
