Mrs. Ingram Welcome to Yorktown
Elementary! My name is
Myra Ingram and I am currently teaching kindergarten. I was born in
Ohio, grew up in Florida and traveled many places as a military wife. I
have lived in York County on and off since 1977. I am a graduate of
Christopher Newport College. I taught at Coventry Elementary
for
many years and am in my third year here at Yorktown. Ms. Batten This is my second year of teaching at Yorktown Elementary! I love teaching kindergarten and feel extremely blessed to be working with talented and devoted colleagues at YES.As a resident of Williamsburg, I enjoy the "perks" of living in a college and tourist-based community. It's a fun town with unlimited entertainment and things to keep one busy! My love for fishing takes me to the water occasionally - my peaceful haven! A short ride across the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry tops off a star-gazing night with friends or completes a "field trip" to the beaches of Surry to hunt for shark's teeth or interesting shells washed upon the shores and still remaining from Hurricane Isabel. Friends and family are a big part of my life and my time spent with them is dear and valuable. I have a son who recently moved to Florida to further his career and to renew his interest in trail biking. For me, free time to enjoy my interests is cherished and infrequent, so you may find me in Florida (now more than ever!), near the water (somewhere!) or hiding with a good book (historical or fun!). But Monday through Friday, I am a "school mom" who loves her students and looks forward to all she can do to help them become independent thinkers and smart learners. Mrs. Rea Hi! My name is Delia Rea, and I love Kindergarten! I was born in Asheboro, N.C. and grew up in Lexington, N.C. I graduated from Appalachian State University in Boone, N.C. and got my Master’s Degree from U.N.C. at Greensboro. I am married, and we have one son. Our family pets are ”Bear” the cat, “Pepper” the cat, and “Buster” the beagle. We enjoy eating out at Mexican and Italian restaurants. I love to go to the movies and the beach. I enjoy shopping, sewing, ringing hand bells at our church, watching ACC College Basketball, and reading a good mystery. I also love seeing all the new children’s books each year! Two of my favorite children’s books are I’ll Love You Forever and The Napping House. Mrs. Striepe I was born and raised in Prattville, Alabama. ( It’s very close to Montgomery…a 15 minute drive with good traffic.) I had been there until I went to college. At that time, I decided to attend Auburn University-the Home of the Auburn Tigers! My orange and blue colors often get confused with that of the University of Virginia. Thus, I have to explain my spirit wear. Needless to say, I loved and still love different sports. (I am now only a participant of the crowd. I can’t play any sports well. I tried basketball, but my 5’2” height didn’t “cut the mustard”.) I have always enjoyed pets and have numerous ones. I like to think of myself as the “Creature Teacher”. Growing up, my parents allowed us to have all different kinds of creatures-horses, cows, dogs, parakeets, cats, and even a tarantula. My husband of 16 married years has drawn the line for my pets. No snakes or spiders! Family and food go together and I love to eat and have tried just about everything. My two children won’t eat one of my favorite meals that includes: turnip greens, ham, and sweet potatoes. (I still can’t convince them that it is tasty.) My family and friends are very important to me. When not at school, I spend time calling my family in Alabama, watching my children play sports, and going to church. In my time by myself, I like to garden and watch reruns of Law and Order. I don’t have one particular favorite picture book or author. I happen to like a lot of them. Olivia, Mrs. Toggle’s Zipper, and Froggy are just to name a few. I hope to write a children’s book one day and have it bring a giggle or laugh to children (and adults) like these books have done for me. |
