Principal's Message

Mrs. Colley

Mrs. Colley - Principal

Great opportunities to help others seldom come, but small ones surround us daily.

  –Sally Koch

Welcome back to school, Waller Mill Stars and families!

We have had a great start to the school year, thanks to your assistance and enthusiasm. The students have been a joy to see this month; we missed them during the summer!

There’s much on the agenda this month, as teachers get to know students and students acclimate to school and its routines.  Please join us for Back-to-School Night, Tuesday, September 18, 2007, at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria.  This is an opportunity for you to participate in a program to introduce you to our wonderful PTA and to our staff, their programs and expectations.  See you there!

We appreciate your support of our instructional and operational efforts at Waller Mill. Instructionally, your child (grades 1-5) will bring home an agenda, signed by the teacher, outlining homework each evening. Please initial the agenda after the homework has been completed. Operationally, we’re practicing safety at school. We reviewed safety rules for the classroom and playground, and we participated in fire drills. In the coming months we’ll also practice bus evacuation, intruder, and tornado drills.

The arts’ scene is shaping up well this year.  Our new drama club plans to produce “Charlotte’s Web” this fall. Mrs. DiFiore is looking for parents and locals with talent to share during Brown Derby Dining. The entire arts’ department is planning our annual student-created dinner theater for late winter.  The arts are alive at Waller Mill!

School year office hours are 8:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. The office number is 220-4060 if you need assistance. Transportation can be reached at 898-0344 until all buses are off the road each evening. Leave a message and a dispatcher will return your call.  As always, we’re here to help, so please let us know how we can best serve your child.

Happy Fall!

Amy C. Colley

Principal
