Avoid Mosquitoes and West Nile

Virus

To keep mosquitoes out of your yard:

u Stock your pond with goldfish that feed on mosquito larvae.

u Use yellow bug lights outside to discourage insects from swarming.

u Mow tall grass and weeds where bugs like to hide.

u Change water in bird baths twice a week.

u Crush marigold leaves and petals between your fingers and rub the oil on

your skin for a mild repellent.

u Empty collected rainwater from plastic tarps on firewood and equipment.

u Toss rosemary and sage onto your grill to act as a repellant.

u Keep trees and shrubs well pruned to bring sun and wind into the yard.

u Bugs like shade and dislike wind.

u Water grass and gardens early in the morning so water    doesn’t pool.

Another year of Waller Mill readers growing in their reading and going on adventures through books! Remember that all books need to be returned before Friday, June 6 or paid for if lost. The Williamsburg Regional Library has a wonderful reading program to keep those brains going this summer! A library card is still free for York County citizens. Keep reading Waller Mill!

We are having officer elections this spring to be ready to start at the very beginning of next year. Class representatives will be chosen next fall. Thanks to all of the generous Waller Mill families for supporting our school through the SCA activities! The monies raised this year will go toward a new purple metal picnic table for classes to enjoy being outdoors. Stay healthy and get lots of exercise this summer so you can come back to school next fall ready to go!
