VHS Profile

Exceptional Academic Results

Students in the YCSD perform at a high rate on standardized tests. End of Course test results for spring 2010 indicate that students scored an average of 93% including all subject areas. In 2009-10, 69% of students scored 3 or higher on all AP exams, and SAT scores were consistently above state and national averages. Since the majority of York County School Division students take online courses on a part-time basis, all standardized tests are taken onsite at the home school. Virtual students are required to report onsite in a proctored environment for exam and SOL testing.

The YCSD Virtual High School Program operates within the school division to meet and exceed federal and state guidelines. The core of the virtual program is student learning and achievement. The program administrators, teachers, and support staff provide unique online instruction designed to assist students with achieving the highest quality on course assessments, state testing, and school accreditation. Documentation is maintained to ensure that students receive the appropriate seat time and meet adequate yearly progress in accordance with the Board's Standards of Accreditation.
