Lily Soledad Correa Vera joins the Foreign
Language department at Tabb Middle School all the way from
her native Chile. Most of her
lovely Spanish students are 7th and 8th graders. She holds two degrees from the
Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, which is the second highest ranked
university in South America in English Literature, Linguistics,
and Education. Ms. Correa previously taught English for four years at the high
school level in a Chilean Montessori School. She has worked
since she was 16. She has experience working with elementary, middle, and high
school students as well as adult business learners. She used to own a business
coordinating economic and medical conferences in Chile. She has also
traveled the world as a flight attendant. In her free time she enjoys
traveling, reading, yoga, swimming, and spending time with friends. All of these
are gifts for her soul.
She considers reading one of the most important ways to learn
about different subjects at your own pace. Even though she is a slow reader,
she loves to explore and to travel to amazing worlds through imagination and
poetry. She is interested in knowing how students are able to build their own
associations and map concepts in their minds. She loves to learn new things,
especially if those things will be useful for her students or for her own life.
Ms. Correa is currently getting her
Masters in Educational Leadership from Virginia Commonwealth University.
