Great Class
May 2008
Dear
Parents,
It’s
hard to believe the year is almost over! The S.O.L. Tests begin in two
weeks,
May 28th! The students have worked hard all year. Please remember to
send me
well-rested students! They will have homework during the testing
period, but it
will be to review. It would be to your child’s advantage to continue
doing the
websites where he/she can practice for the tests.
After
June 6th the tests will be over, but we still have things to do! Each
child
will be tested individually in reading. The test will determine which
Rigby
Level he/she will be on at the start of fourth grade. The students will
be
taking their last Star Test on the computer. This test will record the
growth
in A.R. since Sept. or from when the first test was taken. Your child
will be
doing an end of the year writing sample. It will be on the same topic
he/she
wrote on in Sept. It will show growth and let the fourth grade teacher
view
his/her writing abilities. Yes, this will have a web and will be
written in
cursive! We will continue to grade work, give quizzes, and tests. Your
child
still has several weeks of school left and we must continue to work!
We
would like to have a party for the end of the year! I would like for
each
parent to send in needed items. I will be sending home the requests
closer to
the date. I will attach the request in your child’s agenda.
I
would like to take this time, since this will be my last newsletter, to
thank
you for your help and support during the year. Your calls, emails, and
notes
have helped make the year a successful one. I appreciate the time you
shared
with the class by going on trips, reading to us, and sending in
goodies. You
were very responsive to all of my different requests during the year!
Thank
you! I wish each of you the best as you and your child continue the
educational
journey.
Thank you,
