York County School Division
Student Honors 2007 - 2008

September was the month to honor students and volunteers from Tabb Elementary.

This evening’s Pledge Leader is Bryan, a 5th grade Honor Roll student at Tabb Elementary.  Highlights of Bryan’s school career include involvement in the Kiwanis K-Kids Club, being a member of the Mallet Ensemble and a member of the Bouncing Tigers Jump Rope Team.  Outside of school Bryan sings in the Children’s Choir at his church, is a member of the Cub Scouts, and plays soccer and lacrosse.  In his spare time he plays the drums and helps his family train guide dogs.

On November 28th, Bryan was recognized for being September's Pledge leader.

Meredith  has been selected as the recipient of the Tabb Elementary School Student Service Award.  Meredith is a 5th grade Honor Roll student who is very involved in both her school and community. At Tabb she is a member of the Kiwanis K-Kids Club, where she has made cards and goody bags for the USO to distribute to military service members. Meredith is also a member of the Bouncing Tigers Jump Rope Demonstration Team.  At school Meredith always looks to help others.  An example of this occurred earlier this year when she helped younger students on her bus feel comfortable riding for the first time.  She was an inspiration to others when she read her DARE poem at last year’s DARE graduation, and when she played the piano at Tabb Elementary’s 30th birthday party.  Meredith is an acolyte at her church, and freely contributes money she earns to charity.  She is an SPCA volunteer, helping out by collecting newspapers and visiting with animals.  Meredith is also a Girl Scout and annually participates in such projects as collecting food for the Food Bank and singing at retirement homes.  She has worked with her troop to stuff back to school packets at Tabb and to paint the front window.  This year she assisted with painting a United States map on an outside blacktop.  This past summer Meredith also helped out in a PBS series on Jamestown for the Jamestown - Yorktown Foundation.  In June, she decided all on her own to donate 10 inches of her hair to “Locks of Love”, an organization that makes hairpieces for children with cancer.  Meredith also assists her mother with numerous volunteer projects.
