Second Grade Goals
In second grade, children
begin
to develop a sense of responsibility, take pride in their
accomplishments,
and are able to work more independently. Second graders begin to
reason and are able to concentrate for longer periods of time. At
this stage they develop their self-concept and begin to understand and
respect others. Second graders are eager learners.

| Demonstrate comprehension of a variety of reading material | Count money and make change | Investigate types of weather patterns | Determine the differences between types of resources |
| Write stories, letters, explanations | Determine the perimeter, area, and volume of shapes | Identify how weather and seasonal changes affect plants, animals, and their surroundings | Distinguish between barter and money, goods and services |
| Edit writing for grammar, capitalization, punctuation and spelling | Tell and write time | Plants provide products and benefit nature | Identify the contributions of Americans |
